What about the children?

More than 3 million children each year are front row spectators to domestic violence in their homes. In half of the homes where domestic violence occurs, the abuse eventually includes the children.
I know this first hand, I used to take beatings so he would not beat them. Children grow up believing power and control are used to settle disputes and are more likely to repeat the same behavior as adults. Children are the forgotten victims of domestic violence, they experience the most insidious form of child abuse.
Girls from homes with domestic violence are 6.5 times more likely to be sexually assaulted, and more likely to become pregnant as a teen.
Boys from homes with domestic violence are 4 times more likely to abuse in a dating relationship, 25 times more likely to commit rape as an adult, 6 times more likely to commit suicide, have a 74% greater chance of committing crimes against others, are 24 times more likely to commit a sexual assault as an adult and 1000 times more likely to commit violent acts against an adult partner or their own children. Sixty-three percent of boys ages 11-20 arrested for homicide have killed their mother's abuser.

And I thought that I was staying for the children????
